Skin Essentials.

Whenever I'm talking to anyone about makeup I always stress that it (makeup) can only work as hard as the base you provide it with. By this I mean, exfoliate that skin, treat those spots and hydrate those puffy eyes. Makeup is pretty darn good at transforming different looks, but that's not how I believe it is best represented. A sassy lip can definitely give a massive edge to your LBD and a smokey eye to those leather pants, but I feel makeup is at its best when it is studiously used to accentuate your natural beauty. And what's more natural than glowey skin. Here are my top picks for fuss free quality skin care that will give you that ultimate adonis skin we all crave...

Aplha Beta Peel Pads by Dr Dennis Gross

Think of this as an at home two-step anti-aging facil peel that reduces fine lines and wrinkles, enlarged pores, blemishes, pigmentation and redness, and most of all, provides your skin with the best microexfoliation (without recovery time) that you will ever have. It is the instant pick me up party prep for the skin and leaves you looking like you've had a couple of hours rest rather than a brutal day in the office. These peel pads are jam packed with Alpha Beta Acids and if you're a peel pad junky like myself and your skin has grown accustomed to them over time, why not turn it up a notch with the Extra Strengths

Tip: I choose to use the individual travel packets for a treatment on-the-go and they also ensure that they will never dry out!

Purity Cleanser by Philosophy

If you like a fuss free skin regime like me, then you've got to get your mitts on this almighty cleanser. Hailing itself as the best cleanser in the world from the likes of UK Vogue, Purity is formulated to gently but thoroughly cleanse, tone and and hydrate your skin in one simple step. As a user of an amazing, but stubborn mascara, this is the only cleanser that melts away all my face and eye makeup leaving me without a panda eye in sight! There's also nothing detergent smelling about this cleanser, instead indulge your skin in something that literally smells "pure".

Tip: For users of long wear makeup, try double cleansing. Think of the first step as removing your makeup and the second as your thorough cleanse.

Don't be fooled by this moisturisers consistency. This medium in weight moisturiser packs a punch of hydration, increases radiance,  restores the appearance of youth and beauty and provides antioxidant protection. This delicate rose scented product is formulated with Perricone's three powerful anti-aging sciences: Alpha Lipoic Acid, DMAE and Vitamin C Ester which all help in decreasing the both first signs and progressive fine lines.

Tip: Use Perricone MD's Cold Plasma as your serum for the ultimate skin treatment.

Beauty Flash Balm by Clairins

This cult product is an exceptional beauty booster which immediately eliminates all signs of fatigue, brightens lacklustre skin and makes skin appear well rested and smooth. Not so much a balmy product as the name indicates, this cream can be applied as a 15 minute mask or used under makeup (as I do) as a perfect primer.

Tip: I apply a bit of Beauty Flash in the morning then a touch of my Mac primer through the t-zone for a perfect prepped canvas for my makeup.

I absolutely love a milky complexion...but not on me...but, I also hate an orange one. This gradual tanner contains the perfect balance of keeping your body beautifully moisturised whilst boosting it with that subtle sun kissed glow that you can control. It's a real favourite for its easy application, budget price tag and fantastic results.

Tip: Due to its hydrating factor, allow a bit of time for the lotion to set before putting on clothes to avoid any streaks.

Let the Sun Shine Down on Jessica Bratich Designs.

I styled the look book for up and coming designer Jessica Bratich's accessories S/S 12-13 range and can I say, it was amazing. Jess's second season offers a 12 piece range of clutches, totes and travel bags for every occasion. Bold colours and textural leathers are abundant and staying true to Jess's style, each bag displays an individual finishing whether it be zippers or studs.

We arrived at a look book concept of "colour block resort with an edge". Wordy, I know. But our goal was to combine Jess's raw and innovative style with a colourful S/S range.

We booked a location at Seashells Resort in Mandurah which was a sight to behold. The crystal waters reflected the blue sky that the weather gods had put on for us (regular readers will know that the weather gods and I have a turbulent relationship).

As it was for an Australian designer I wanted to showcase the bags along side a wardrobe of other Australian based designers. Boutiques Black Beret and Meg and Wally and designer Paper Skye loaned vibrant coloured pieces featuring linear lines. I also endeavoured to keep jewellery to a minimum as this was about the bags after all, so I used a statement gold gun metal belt and bangle through out which were also supplied by Black Beret. Killer high heels in block suede colours were provided by Betts Shoes.

Both the name of this range and the official photos will be released mid year, but for now I'd like to share with you some awesome behind the scenes photos taken by Andrew Bromwich as well as a couple of press clippings.

The Pleasure Was Mine.

After flipping through the pages of Ellery's lookbook and then reviewing how many pages I had dog eared as a reference for "future purchases" I knew Ellerys Pop-up Store Launch at 140 Perth would be a feast to the eyes. As expected, there was a substantial amount of varied items on offer from pastels to neutrals, leathers to metals.

As regular readers will know, I'm obsessed with textures, so the leathers and metallics went down a treat for me.

(My outfit at the Ellery Pop-Up Store Launch
as seen in The STM.)

I also recently went to the suitably named "Beauty in Shadows, Smoke & Decay" Photographic Exhibition Launch which was held by Shirin from Ragdoll Photography in conjunction with FotoFreo. Situated at The Bird, both photographic and film works (which I had the pleasure of styling) were exhibited for over a week. It was a wonderful day and I'd like to congratulate Shirin and Craig on turning out such a cool event. I also commend Craig for searching through road side pick ups to collect all the recycled wood used to build the frames you see...I love a crafty person!

I'm moving to Melbourne in a weeks time so these will be the last of Perth's fashion festivities that I will have the pleasure of attending...for now!

Fresh Face.

These are some shots from a shoot I styled with new Chadwick model Ellesha Edwards at heritage hotel "The Melbourne" which is smack bang in the middle of the city. It had a beautiful distressed wooden balcony which stretched all the way down the top floor of the hotel. We took advantage of the soft natural light and natural beauty that was available to us that day. Special thanks and love to Meg and Wally for the garments.
